明けましておめでとうございます! (Happy New Year!)

New Years Resolutions. They are made every year, but they often don’t last three days. It is really lucky if it lasts a week!

This year I am not going to “make” a resolution. Instead I am going to continue to do what I have been doing for a while. Setting small goals for myself to complete.

This year?

I hope to work harder at money management, running, and studying Japanese. These are three main goals I have. While I have never been great at them, I still try to continue to get better at them. I have created smaller easier goals that help me achieve the larger ones.

Sure there are set backs and really bad days, but I don’t ever give up on them. Resolutions are often, if not always broken. Like the yearly favorite ‘I am going to lose weight!’ Everyone says this, they might even get a gym membership or buy a diet health book, but they never really DO it.

This is where the smaller goals come in and really help out. I have been working to lose weight since I turned 23, that was three years ago. While I am not a skinny little stick, I have worked hard to set small goals and reach them. I am now leaner and stronger than I think I have ever been. Thanks to the choices and goals I set.

This year I have already signed up to run a 5k run in Ube Country Marathon. It is the same race that I ran last year. This year I would like to run a slightly better time than I did last year. Though the real main goal is to always run the whole race without stopping, and without being dead last. Oh and let’s not forget the goal of NOT DYING!

All jokes aside, I honestly run to help me stay fit and goes all the way back to the huge goal I had set for myself years ago. So this run is just an example of how small simple things will add up to a larger overall goal. Something I guess we can call a “resolution.”

While there are whose who can make resolutions and keep them, most of us just can’t help the lazy life we like to live. And that is okay! Make some lazy goals for yourself instead, but just be sure to set some good goals for yourself to help keep you from being a total lazy couch potato.

So Good luck to everyone this new year of 2017! I wish everyone the best and brightest year yet! (Honestly it has got to be better than the dark year of 2016, right?) Happy New Year to all who happen to read my stuff and continue to do so! While it is bland and often boring, thank you for taking the time to read the randomness that is AM_Hayes The Blog!
